A highly versatile material

Polypropylene is a type of plastic that belongs to the polyolefin family. It is known for its strength and durability, as well as its flexibility and versatility. Polypropylene is also resistant to moisture and is able to maintain its structural integrity even when exposed to high temperatures.

To recycle PP it must be cleaned to remove any contaminants, such as food residue, dirt, and other debris.  It is then shredded into small pieces to prepare it for processing. The shredded PP is then further separated by colour, size, shape, melting point or light absorption. The final phase is compounding. Here, the plastics are recombined using a machine called an extruder, which melts down particles at a high temp, creating pellets of the plastic. Then, the pellets or granules are ready to be used by manufacturers to make brand new products.
